EASTBOUND CHESS LEAGUE @ BAR BASQUIAT Sunday, October 4th | 16:00–20:00 Javastraat 88-90 Eastbound Gym is stepping out of the ring and onto the chessboard. On Sunday October 4th, we’re taking over Bar Basquiat for an afternoon of chess, hip-hop, drinks, food and good company. Whether you play every week or only know enough to put up a fight: you’re welcome. The Eastbound Chess League is a friendly but competitive rapid chess tournament for (ex/future) members of Eastbound Gym and is open to all levels. We’re bringing together fighters, thinkers, hustlers, beginners, chess nerds and anyone else who thinks they can play. You’ll start in a group stage, where everyone plays at least three games. Group winners advance to the knockout rounds, eventually battling it out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Games are played with 10 minutes per player, no increment. And even if you’re not playing in the tournament, come down. There’ll be boards available for free play, hip-hop on vinyl by DJ The Easy Way, food, drinks and plenty of chess to watch. Play a game.
